The struggle for freedom includes many heroes in its ranks. Brave young women and men fight with great sacrifices for the freedom and independence of the country and to ensure a free and democratic life. Naturally, this strong determination in our society is rooted in a history filled with uprisings and resistance. Therefore, every involvement and decision made for the future carries within it great experiences.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Rojava Revolution in Kurdistan has created a new opportunity for all the oppressed to organize themselves. The revolution also heralded a new life for all parts of Kurdistan. To gain the rights of the people, an unwavering struggle is being waged against the authoritarian state system, which, to this day, wears the mask of ISIS in its war against humanity. With the Rojava Revolution in Kurdistan, the boundaries of the nation-state have disappeared, and all the peoples of the world demanding freedom and equality have united in one spirit and one heart. The reality of the women’s revolution, with the participation of young women, has turned into a high energy source to build a democratic national system.<\/p>\n

In the struggle for the freedom of Kurdistan, our people in Northern Kurdistan have waged an unstoppable war, and this struggle continues to escalate against the murderous system of the Republic of Turkey to this day.<\/p>\n

The culture of resistance plays a decisive role for our people in Northern Kurdistan, especially among women and youth. Our comrades Berwar, Shamal, and Arjin stood against the brutal Turkish regime, fought for the building of a free and democratic society, and turned towards the Kurdish Revolution in Rojava. The hegemonic system occupied Kurdistan with a “divide and conquer” policy and a strategy of genocide against the Kurdish people. But this inhumane concept faces resistance from the youth, particularly women, who have taken their place in the ranks of the Women\u2019s Protection Units (YPJ), presenting the ideals of communal life in tangible ways.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Our comrades Berwar, Shamal, and Arjin were martyred during liberation campaigns on different dates, joining the ranks of the martyrs.<\/p>\n

Our comrade Halime Ya\u015far, known by the name Berwar Delkhawaz, was from the Kafran district of G\u00f6lmarmara in Northern Kurdistan. Berwar joined the ranks of the struggle for the freedom of Kurdistan in 2011. With the development of the Rojava Revolution in Kurdistan, she took her place on the battlefronts in Rojava. Comrade Berwar fought with great enthusiasm and self-sacrifice until the end, in pursuit of a free life. In 2014, she was martyred while defending the honor of her people against ISIS mercenaries on the front lines of Tel Ko\u00e7er.<\/p>\n

Our comrade S\u00fbkon Tash, known as Arjin Mardin, joined the ranks of the Women\u2019s Protection Units (YPJ) in 2014, coming from Northern Kurdistan due to her national responsibility. Arjin’s journey to Rojava began at a young age. She expressed her youthful spirit in every moment of her life. Although her time was short since she arrived, she made great efforts to achieve the freedom of her people. With this determination, she joined the liberation campaigns, and on January 11, 2016, she joined the ranks of the martyrs in the city of Derik.<\/p>\n

Our comrade Svin\u00e7 Bahar Yildiz, also known as Shamal Zilan, was from the Ba\u015fkale region of Wan. The nationalism of our people in Wan was expressed in a tangible way in the character of our comrade Shamal. Her greatest wish was the freedom of Leader Apo, and for this reason, she joined the ranks of the revolution. Comrade Shamal fought on the front lines against ISIS mercenaries and the darkness of the age. She was one of the warriors representing light, equality, and freedom. Comrade Shamal joined the ranks of the martyrs during the liberation of the city of Al-Hol on March 3, 2016.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As the Women\u2019s Protection Units (YPJ), we see the struggle waged by our comrades as a valuable legacy for us. First, we would like to express our condolences to the families of our dear comrades Berwar, Shamal, and Arjin, and to all our patriotic people. We vow to intensify the struggle to keep the women\u2019s revolution in Rojava alive.<\/p>\n
