Civil and military institutions within the Autonomous Administration organized an event under the slogan: \u201cUnder the banner of the Women\u2019s Protection Units (YPJ), Syrian women unite for freedom, justice, and equality.\u201d Speeches delivered during the forum emphasized steadfast struggle and determination until the very last breath.<\/p>\n
The event began with a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs, followed by a speech from YPJ commander Roshin Afrin, who stated:
\n\u201cThe Women\u2019s Protection Units do not only fight a military battle against ISIS; rather, they also lead a social and political struggle to liberate women from the cultural constraints imposed by traditional societies. These units have become a symbol of a women\u2019s movement striving to achieve balance between men and women across all fields of life. Women have proven their presence and capability in both civilian and military fields, demonstrating that willpower and determination are the fundamental driving forces to overcome challenges and achieve readiness to serve and defend society.\u201d
\nWe strive to promote equality and democracy and to establish a new model for women\u2019s empowerment, free from traditional constraints.<\/p>\n
She further noted:
\n\u201cWomen are the essential pillar upon which society is built. They are capable of leading themselves, confronting challenges and threats, and presenting a global model for women. We strive to promote equality and democracy and to establish a new model for women\u2019s empowerment, far from traditional constraints. Participation in defense and security is a necessity to ensure the safety and protection of society.\u201d<\/p>\n
She concluded her speech by saying:
\n\u201cWomen in the YPJ are not merely fighters; they are symbols of freedom, equality, and social change. Their struggle was not confined to the war against ISIS alone, but also encompassed advancing women\u2019s rights and equality.\u201d
\nThe Women\u2019s Protection Units have become a global model of women contributing to defense sciences.<\/p>\n
YPJ commander Amira Mohammed also delivered a speech, saying:
\n\u201cThe YPJ represents a symbol of resistance against challenges and threats, and presents a model of women who resist violence and injustice and defend themselves and their communities. The units aim to promote gender equality and empower women in all fields, including the political and military arenas, enabling them to fully participate in building a better future for society. The Women\u2019s Protection Units have become a global example of women contributing to defense sciences and achieving significant gains for women in Syria and the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
Commander Amira concluded by pledging to always strive to liberate all oppressed women and all remaining occupied areas, and to work towards a free, democratic, and decentralized Syria.<\/p>\n
The event concluded with chants including: \u201cLong live free women,\u201d \u201cMartyrs are immortal,\u201d and \u201cNo life without the leader.\u201d<\/p>\n
