Under the slogan “By Developing the Women\u2019s Media Union, We Will Be the Voice of the Women\u2019s Revolution,” the Women\u2019s Media Union held its fourth conference at Rojava University in Qamishli. The event was attended by 170 delegates, alongside members of the Women\u2019s Media Union from the regions of northeastern Syria, representatives from Aleppo \u2013 Sheikh Maqsoud, political parties, the Kongreya Star, and the Women\u2019s Protection Units (YPJ).<\/p>\n
“A New Journey Revived Thanks to the Call of Global Leader Abdullah \u00d6calan for Peace and the Building of a Democratic Society”<\/p>\n
The conference began with a moment of silence in honor of the martyrs, followed by a speech from Arin Sweid, spokesperson of the Women\u2019s Media Union, who said:
\n“Violations against women continue in Syria, and our union has succeeded in shedding light on truths that are being concealed. We have reached this stage thanks to the efforts and resistance of our martyrs, which illuminated the path of justice through their sacrifices, cameras, and pens. Furthermore, a new journey has been revived thanks to the call of global leader Abdullah \u00d6calan for peace and the building of a democratic society.”<\/p>\n
She concluded her speech by stating:
\n“The mission and struggle of the YPJ have become increasingly serious, reaching the peak of their efforts. Through this conference, we aim to address the shortcomings and challenges that have emerged, enabling us to fulfill our duties and responsibilities in full alignment with the process.”<\/p>\n
“The Role of Women in Media is of Great Importance”<\/p>\n
Following this, Ilham Ahmed, speaking on behalf of the Autonomous Administration, said:
\n“The role of women in media is of great importance, particularly in the history of the Kurdish people in northeastern Syria and across the Middle East. Today, women\u2019s media focuses on women\u2019s issues. Without media, women\u2019s causes cannot reach their full impact. Looking at human history and the struggles and revolutionary participation of women, media has always been a tool to convey the truth, or one of the few means to reveal it. In other words, the voice of justice has often been suppressed by patriarchal systems. Nevertheless, women\u2019s media today has become the voice of all oppressed women and represents their struggle in every possible way.”<\/p>\n
She added:
\n“As the Women\u2019s Media Union, we renew our pledge to the martyrs of free media by following in their footsteps. We will achieve definitive victory through the struggle of the Women\u2019s Protection Units and the resistance of the determined people, adhering to the truth guided by the philosophy of ‘Women, Life, Freedom.'”<\/p>\n
The conference concluded with the slogan: “Long Live a Free Life\u00a0for\u00a0Women.”<\/p>\n
