The Islamic regime in Iran\u2019s issuance of a death sentence against Kurdish activist and political prisoner Warisha Moradi reflects the expansion of the policy of femicide and constitutes a direct attack on the will and aspirations for freedom of all women.<\/p>\n
The history of the Iranian regime demonstrates that this reactionary authority has consistently sought to suppress the resistance of the Kurdish people and women\u2019s struggle for liberation through executions and the spread of fear. From Shirin Alam-Houli to Zeynab Jalalian, and now Warisha Moradi, the repression of women who resist has remained deeply rooted in the mindset of this authority. Fearing the philosophy and slogan \u201cWoman, Life, Freedom\u201d, this regime is once again attempting, through these inhumane sentences, to take revenge on the legacy of resistance and the pioneers of the women\u2019s struggle. Yet history has repeatedly proved that policies of intimidation and executions cannot break the will of women who have risen up for freedom.<\/p>\n
Warisha Moradi today is not merely a political prisoner; she is also a continuation of the legacy of women\u2019s resistance in Eastern Kurdistan and a symbol of the struggle against reactionary forces. The attack on her life and the danger threatening her represent a continuation of the assaults targeting the historical achievements of the women\u2019s freedom movement.<\/p>\n
As the Women\u2019s Protection Units (YPJ), we strongly condemn this death sentence and all forms of execution policies. We affirm that this policy is unlawful and represents one of the traps of fascism, which seeks to keep society\u2019s future shrouded in darkness.<\/p>\n
We call on all human rights organisations, international institutions, and women\u2019s movements around the world not to remain silent in the face of these death sentences, and to stand in solidarity with the resistance of political prisoners. Silence in the face of these crimes paves the way for the further entrenchment of injustice and authoritarianism.<\/p>\n
We extend our revolutionary greetings to all women in prisons who continue to uphold the legacy of the historic struggle. We affirm that, under all circumstances, we will remain their voice and defenders of their rights and struggle. Women\u2019s resistance for freedom will never retreat in the face of the gallows or repression.<\/p>\n
