Eid Candles at the Martyr Dicle Shrine.

63

Amid a solemn atmosphere where sorrow intertwined with tears of pride and honor, hundreds of residents, including families of the martyrs and local community members, gathered at the Martyr Dicle Shrine on the evening of the first day of Eid al-Adha to commemorate their loved ones who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and dignity of the region.

The ceremony began with a minute of silence in tribute to the souls of the martyrs, followed by the lighting of hundreds of candles that illuminated the graves across the shrine grounds, in a message affirming continued loyalty to their sacrifices and commitment to following their path.

In a gesture filled with renewed devotion and remembrance, families scattered and planted flowers upon the graves amid a large public turnout that filled the shrine’s courtyards, where images of the martyrs stood side by side with words of pride spoken by their mothers and fathers.

“Our Eid today began from their graves.”

With these emotional words, the families of the martyrs expressed their feelings, affirming that the true meaning of Eid lies in preserving the achievements made possible through those sacrifices, and that remembering them on such an occasion is both a national and moral duty.

A profound silence overshadowed the shrine as the heroism of the fallen was remembered, in a scene that reflected how words remain powerless before the greatness of the sacrifices made by the martyrs in defense of their land and people.
