The anniversary of the July 19 Revolution was commemorated in the city of Kobani with a large public gathering and great enthusiasm at Martyr Bawer Stadium.
The celebration began with a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs.
Delbrîn Kobani, a commander of the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) in Kobani, then delivered a speech on behalf of the Kobani Command to mark the anniversary of the July 19 Revolution. She said:
“On behalf of the people of Kobani, we extend our greetings to Leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı. It was from Kobani that the first spark of the Rojava Revolution was ignited, and from here the revolution gradually spread throughout Rojava Kurdistan. The heroic and dignified people of Kobani have always remained faithful to their historical legacy because they are a patriotic people who know their history. A people who know their history are capable of creating an uprising for freedom. The July 19 Revolution was a revolution of the peoples, and it was in Kobani that the unity of the Kurdish people was realized.”
Delbrîn Kobani continued:
“Today, the Women’s Revolution has become a voice heard throughout the world. Our enemies continue to attack the Women’s Revolution and our values by every possible means. But the occupying enemy must understand well that our strength is derived from the thought and philosophy of Leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan), and that this strength will elevate the Women’s Revolution to a global level. With this spirit, and through our determination and unwavering will, we will defeat all the plans of the occupation.”
At the conclusion of the speech, the participants chanted the following slogans:
Long Live Leader Apo.
There Is No Life Without the Leader.
Woman, Free Life.
