A memorial ceremony was held in honor of Martyr Shilan Kobani

This morning, a solemn ceremony took place for Martyr Shilan Kobani at the Serdem Center for Culture and Arts. The event began with a military parade, after which attendees observed a minute of silence in tribute to all martyrs of the revolution, among whom was Shilan Kobani.

Sarya Afrin, a member of the General Command of the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), delivered a speech commemorating all the martyrs of the revolution, including Shilan Kobani. She extended her condolences to the esteemed family of Martyr Shilan and to all her comrades in struggle, stating: “Martyr Shilan played a decisive role and fulfilled her duty without hesitation on the battlefields and in organizing the people from the very beginning of the Rojava Revolution until this sensitive phase we are currently experiencing.”

Commander Sarya Afrin noted that Commander Shilan Kobani participated in the battles of Kobani, Afrin, Aleppo, and the Jazira region. Most recently, she led the resistance of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh with a firm stance as a commander, delivering heavy blows to the enemy and affirming that the spirit of the Kurdish woman is not one of surrender, but one of resistance.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, amid chants of “Martyrs do not die” and “Long live Leader Abdullah Öcalan,” the body of Martyr Shilan Kobani was transferred to the city of Kobani.
