To Our People and Public Opinion

We have lived through an era in which history was written with the blood of the heroes of freedom. Every moment of this struggle carries profound meaning within the philosophy that “Resistance is Life,” reaching its highest expression through the will of women who became symbols of freedom. Our comrades Zeyneb Ceraf and Berçem Jiyan were followers of truth, representatives of the philosophy of “Woman, Life, Freedom,” and architects of a new life. They left their mark on history at the forefront of the struggle for freedom.

We extend our deepest condolences to the architect of free life, Leader Abdullah Öcalan, to the families of our beloved comrades, and to all our patriotic people.

Our comrade Zeyneb Ceraf secured her place in the history of the freedom struggle not only as a fighter, but as a symbol of the philosophy of the free woman. Comrade Zeyneb was the strongest response to the darkness of history. Her struggle was not merely an armed struggle, but an intellectual and philosophical struggle against social backwardness and occupation. She embodied the philosophy of “self-reliance” in her character. She understood that the freedom of society lies in the freedom of women, and therefore every step she took was directed toward truth.

She proved that defending a free life is possible through deep intellectual awareness grounded in the democratic and ecological paradigm. In the darkest circumstances of Rojava, and with boundless determination, she became the finest example of “supportive struggle.” Through her devotion to revolutionary life, she illuminated the path of her comrades like a guiding light. For Comrade Zeyneb, patriotism was not merely love for the land, but the defense of the honor, culture, and existence of a people subjected to genocide. Her patriotism was inseparable from her loyalty to the martyrs and to the Leader. She sacrificed her life as a bridge to freedom so that future generations could live with dignity on that land. Today, Comrade Zeyneb Ceraf lives on in the laughter of Kurdistan’s children, in the resistance of freedom-loving women, and in every corner of the land of Rojava. She became a symbol of an unbreakable will. Comrade Zeyneb joined the caravan of immortals in a military incident on July 26, 2019.

Dina Ali (Berçem Jiyan) was a shining example of the brotherhood of peoples and the will of free women. As an Arab woman, she joined the ranks of freedom for the liberation of all Syrian women. Comrade Berçem proved that the cause of freedom knows no ethnic boundaries. Her participation from the Arab community in Raqqa embodied in practice the message of the “Democratic Nation.” In her youth, she rebelled against reactionary mentality and joined the ranks of the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) to defend all women of the region.

Comrade Berçem became known for her devoted and humble character. Today, her memory is immortalized as a symbol of the Arab woman who gave her life for freedom. She sacrificed herself to demonstrate that freedom is a right for all humanity. She was the voice of the unity of peoples and the will of the Arab woman who rose up against the ideology of ISIS. Comrade Berçem joined the ranks of the martyrs during a brutal attack carried out by armed gangs in 2024, yet the legacy of her struggle continues to shine among all the peoples of the region.

We promise you that the light ignited by Zeyneb will never be extinguished, and the land blessed by Berçem will never be surrendered to invaders. Our greatest revenge is the establishment of a free life. We will raise the banner of victory upon the highest peaks, and we will remain faithful to the path of our martyrs until the very end.
