In response to an appeal made by the Hilal Women’s Football Team, YPJ commander Rohlat Afrin, alongside Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) spokesperson Roksan Mohammed and Military Council member Destina Aleppo, received members of the Hilal women’s team to discuss the recent issues affecting the team and its players.
During the meeting, extensive discussions were held regarding the reality of women’s sports and the challenges facing female athletes. The two officials reaffirmed their full support for the journey of Hilal’s players both locally and internationally, stressing the importance of continued support in order to preserve the team’s development and enable the players to achieve even greater accomplishments in the coming period.
For their part, the players expressed their gratitude to commander Rohlat Afrin and YPJ official spokesperson Roksan Mohammed for their support and solidarity with women’s issues in general, and with the Hilal team players in particular. They also affirmed their determination to represent themselves in a manner worthy of the sacrifices and resistance of women under the slogan: “Jin, Jiyan, Azadî” (“Woman, Life, Freedom”).
