Feminist Organizations Visit the Women’s Protection Units on the Occasion of International Women’s Day, March 8

A delegation from political parties and feminist organizations in North and East Syria visited the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
The delegation consisted of representatives from Kongra Star, the Women’s Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), the Women’s Council of the Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM), and the Women’s Organization of the Kurdish Progressive Democratic Party in Syria, who extended their congratulations to the Women’s Protection Units.
As part of the visit, members of the Kongra Star Coordination in Hasakah Canton, Nahed Sheikh Suleiman, Siham Um Ali, and Alaa Ibrahim, along with representatives from Kongra Star Committees, the Women’s Council of the PYD, the Women’s Council of TEV-DEM, and other feminist organizations, congratulated the General Command of the Women’s Protection Units on this occasion, honoring the struggles of working women around the world.
The delegation was received by the General Command of the Women’s Protection Units, represented by Rohilat Afrin, the official spokesperson of the YPJ, Roksan Mohammed, and Kurdistan Kojar, a member of the YPJ Military Council.
At the beginning of the meeting, the delegation was welcomed, followed by discussions on the significance of March 8 and the importance of unified struggle. Additionally, the General Coordinator of Kongra Star, Siham Um Ali, presented a symbolic gift—an artwork—to the General Command of the YPJ in celebration of International Women’s Struggle Day.
The visit was marked by a high sense of morale and engaging discussions. It concluded with a Freedom Dance, performed to the rhythm of liberation songs, while chanting the slogan: “Women, Life, Freedom.”
