A cultural event was held at the Reading Garden in the city of Qamishlo to mark the signing of author Shilan Ahmed’s new book, Journey of Freedom, in the presence of a large number of intellectuals, local residents, and families of martyrs.
The event began with a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs, followed by a speech delivered by Shilan Ahmed, in which she welcomed the attendees and discussed the intellectual themes and messages conveyed in her new book.
During her speech, Shilan Ahmed highlighted the pioneering role of the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), emphasizing that their sacrifices and steadfastness have been the foundation of the achievements and gains realized today.
She stated:
“The existence of the Women’s Protection Units is what has brought us to this success today. Therefore, we cannot accept, under any circumstances, the exclusion of these Units from the state’s military forces. They possess a strong will and unwavering determination that qualify them to take their rightful place within the country’s military institutions.”
The event concluded with the distribution of book copies, as Shilan Ahmed presented and gifted copies of her book, Journey of Freedom, to mothers and families of martyrs in appreciation of their sacrifices, receiving significant praise and appreciation from those in attendance for this gesture of recognition.
