Artists Comert and Berbang visited the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) Center today at 9:00 a.m. They were received by the YPJ spokesperson, Roxan Mohammed, along with Military Council members Berxwedan Qamishlo and Roj Amûd.
During the visit, artist Comert said:
“It is impossible to describe the pain, but the ethics, spirituality, and philosophy demonstrated by the Women’s Front in the fight against ISIS were unique. ISIS used to say, ‘Women are not supposed to kill us, and if we are killed by women, we will go to hell.'”
Artist Berbang then said:
“Those who gave us life and who safeguard the rights of the Kurdish people are among the fronts in which Kurdish women have taken part. Kurdish women fought fiercely against ISIS.”
The YPJ spokesperson, Roxan Mohammed, stated:
“As the Women’s Protection Units, the ideology we defend is the ideology of Leader Apo, which shapes our identity. Everything we have endured to reach this stage has made the Women’s Protection Units widely recognized and highly respected. We have been deeply influenced by the ideology of Leader Apo and by the stance of our people. It is this strength that has enabled us to remain steadfast until today.”
Following the speeches, the two artists performed two artistic works.
At the conclusion of the visit, the YPJ spokesperson presented gifts to the two artists.
