
The funeral of the martyr Azadi and the martyr Sorkhoin Rojhelat in Derik and Kobani
The residents of Derik bid farewell to the martyrs who lost their lives during the Turkish bombing of Qamishli on the eleventh of this month. Tareq Adel Bahaa Al-Din, Jaber Ahmed Al-Abu, and Azadi Qandil were honoured in a solemn procession to the martyr cemetery of the martyr Khabat.
The ceremony began with a minute of silence for their souls, followed by several speeches. Kulestan Othman, on behalf of the Martyrs’ Families Council, said: “We are in the presence of the martyrs, who have shown us how to love our land, and we honour especially our women martyrs who have become legends in Kobane. Today we see that we are not alone here, but in every corner of Kurdistan, people are committed and determined to continue this path. Victory is our ally, martyrs do not die.”
Comrade Lalash, on behalf of the Federation of War Wounded, said: “We remember Comrade Surxwîn, a leader of the resistance in Kobane, and all the martyrs of freedom who were so cowardly attacked. We hope the whole world knows that we will not falter to uplift the memory of these comrades who sacrificed their lives. Today our hatred for the enemy will be stronger. Once again, on behalf of all comrades, we say: martyrs are alive, long live to the Leader Apo.”
The ceremony concluded with the Martyrs’ Families Council presenting a certificate of martyrdom to the families of the heroic martyrs, then their pure bodies were carried on the shoulders of comrades in arms to their final resting place.
The body of the martyr comrade Sorxwîn Rojava was transported to Kobane, where she had made great efforts liberating the city from the terrorism of ISIS. She was received by the people with solemn ceremonies at the martyrs cemetery of the martyr Dijle. The commander in the Women’s Protection Units, Rojda Felat, spoke about the value of martyrdom and martyrs, commemorating all the people who gave their life for freedom through the three martyrs. She honoured the character of the martyr comrade Sorxwîn who had joined the resistance in Kobane with great courage, defended her people with great sacrifice, and participated powerfully in rebuilding the city after liberation, thus earning a great place in the hearts of the people in Kobane.
