The July 19 Revolution, Led by Free Women, Has Become the Hope for Democratic Solutions in Syria

As the anniversary of the July 19 Revolution in 2024 approaches, Amal Rojava, a fighter in the ranks of the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), spoke about the revolution. She said, “The anniversary of July 19 brought significant changes to the areas of Northeast Syria, impacting not only Syria but also the entire Middle East. Its influence was particularly strong on the status of women, as women played a leading role and achieved many victories and accomplishments on the path to freedom.”

Amal Rojava further elaborated, “This revolution was a starting point for all the peoples of North and East Syria, and thus all communities found themselves within this revolution.”

She concluded her speech by stating, “The occupation that seeks to thwart the project of the democratic nation will not succeed in its goals. It will not be able to eclipse the sun of freedom and the unity of the brotherhood of peoples. With our will and our peoples, we will defeat every occupier or anyone who seeks to undermine the achievements of our revolution and the sacrifices of our martyrs. Now, the people of Northeast Syria, with all their components, can govern themselves independently.”
