To Our People and the General Public

In recent times, the region has witnessed significant developments, both militarily and politically. These shifts have created opportunities for ISIS terrorist cells to mobilize and carry out attacks, taking advantage of security gaps in certain areas of Syrian territory. The group has launched multiple terrorist operations targeting civilians and our military forces, while also attempting to recruit members and reorganize its ranks.
Al-Hol Camp, considered one of the main targets for the terrorist organization, has been exploited by ISIS, particularly through families that remain committed to extremist ideology. In recent weeks, the camp has seen repeated attempts by ISIS cells to smuggle individuals out, along with numerous documented cases of threats and assaults against residents.
This camp, which presents a unique and dangerous situation with tens of thousands of ISIS-affiliated families living within it, is a ticking time bomb of current and future tragedy. This is especially true given the lack of comprehensive international solutions and the continued burden placed on the Autonomous Administration. The suspension of international support has further contributed to instability, compounding the humanitarian and security challenges.
It is well known that ISIS continues to spread its extremist ideology among children and young people through a systematic effort imposed on the camp’s residents. Humanitarian organization centers operating inside the camp have also come under repeated attack. In response, and in order to prevent terrorism from reaching its objectives, our forces have carried out dozens of preemptive operations targeting ISIS hideouts across various times and locations.
In line with our humanitarian and military principles, and as part of our continued fight against terrorism, we — the Internal Security Forces, alongside the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), and with the support of the Syrian Democratic Forces — hereby announce the launch of a security operation to sweep Al-Hol Camp and its surroundings. This operation is based on accurate intelligence indicating the presence of organized ISIS cells both inside and outside the camp, seeking to reactivate their networks and undermine the security and stability of the area.
Through this operation, we reaffirm our commitment to humanitarian values and our resolve to continue eliminating the sources of terrorism that threaten the safety of our people and the world.
