To Our People and the General Public

As part of ongoing efforts to ensure security and stability, and to confront the growing threats posed by terrorist cells and remnants of ISIS, our forces—the Internal Security Forces and the Women’s Internal Security Forces, in coordination with the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) and with the support of the Syrian Democratic Forces—have completed a security operation inside al-Hol Camp, which began on April 18, 2025, and continued for six consecutive days.
The operation aimed to dismantle sleeper cells and enhance security within and around the camp. It involved meticulous search operations and targeted raids across several sectors inside the camp, as well as special operations conducted outside its perimeter.
The operation resulted in the following outcomes:
- The arrest of 20 members of ISIS and their collaborators.
- The seizure of three Kalashnikov rifles, a handgun, several magazines and rounds of ammunition, as well as military equipment hidden inside one of the tents.
- The foiling of a mass escape attempt, which had been coordinated by a cell inside the camp with another outside; all members of the cell were apprehended.
- A special operation by the Women’s Internal Security Forces targeted a dangerous ISIS cell that had been working to coordinate terrorist activities with other cells.
This operation marks a new successful blow to the terrorist cells attempting to exploit the humanitarian situation in the camp to carry out their criminal plots. It also reaffirms our unwavering commitment to pursuing terrorism and cutting off its sources wherever they may be found.
In this regard, we renew our call on the international community to assume its legal and humanitarian responsibilities concerning the issue of al-Hol Camp, to seriously work toward the repatriation of its nationals held within, and to provide the necessary support to the Autonomous Administration so it may continue managing this complex issue safely and effectively.
We also affirm that preemptive security operations will continue in all areas facing security threats, and we stress that there will be no safe haven for terrorism and its supporters.
We call upon our people to continue cooperating with our forces and to report any suspicious activities or movements, as the safety of our society is a shared responsibility that requires everyone’s cooperation.
