On the occasion of Martyrs’ Day, which coincides with the commemoration of the Qereçox martyrs, the official spokesperson for the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), Roxan Mohammed, delivered a speech honoring their tireless struggle and dedication, emphasizing the continuation of this struggle through the resistance at Tishrin Dam.
On April 25, the anniversary of the Qereçox martyrs, the Arts Team from the Kobani Canton presented the Protection Units with paintings depicting the struggle of the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) and the People’s Protection Units (YPG). The YPJ expressed their gratitude to the Arts Team for this initiative.
“This day is a day of pride, honor, and freedom.”
The YPJ spokesperson, Roxan Mohammed, made the following statement to commemorate the occasion: “April 25 is Martyrs’ Day, and today marks the eighth anniversary of the Qereçox martyrs. In the memory of the Qereçox martyrs, we honor all the martyrs of the revolution in northeastern Syria. This day is one of pride, honor, and freedom for us.
The gift we received from the Arts Team of Kobani Canton — these paintings that express the struggle of the martyrs at Tishrin Dam — fills us with joy. It is a source of happiness that the artists of our homeland sought to portray the bridge of struggle between Qereçox and Tishrin Dam and to revive the revolutionary people’s war through their art. We also consider it important for our people to become a cradle of history through art and through all fields of work.”
The Women’s Protection Units once again expressed their gratitude for this noble initiative and presented a gift to the Arts Team in appreciation.
