To Our People and the Public Opinion

In every region and city of our homeland, brave fighters and resisters are born, renewing the history of their people. They are women with hearts of steel yet filled with love — women who have sacrificed their lives for their homeland, driven by their sense of duty toward it. Once again, history bears witness to towering figures — women as magnificent and steadfast as Mount Ağrı. They will remain forever in the memory of our people and of all humanity as a golden mark, leaving behind an immortal legacy.
Behar Uğun, known as Arin Serhad, opened her eyes to life in the city of Erzurum, where she grew up and learned to live within its ancient and authentic culture. In the Serhad region — known for its harshness and challenges — she developed the traits of a woman determined to find her own path in life. This allowed her to quickly recognize the realities around her and to feel them deeply.
Thanks to the patriotic spirit of her family, our comrade Arin became acquainted with the Revolution of Kurdistan’s Freedom during her childhood. Thus, her sympathy for and devotion to the revolution began to take shape. While her father was engaged in revolutionary work, he was martyred at the hands of the occupying Turkish state. This tragic event enabled Arin to understand, at an early age, the true nature of the enemy and colonialism, shaping her life accordingly. Together with her brother, Rezan Roken, Arin’s influence grew steadily, as did her determination to join the revolutionary ranks. On this basis, she joined the Revolution of Freedom in 2015, deciding to live a free life.
She worked, struggled, and fought with all her strength and capabilities in the western regions of the country. With a revolutionary spirit, she was ready for anything, at any time and in any place. Through her ideological and military training, Arin united herself with the revolution. She dedicated every moment of her life to the struggle for freedom, and with a sincere and understanding heart, she sacrificed herself for Leader Abdullah Öcalan, for the people, and for the martyrs.
With deep insight rooted in the dynamics of society, she became a wise fighter who grew and matured through the ideas of Leader Abdullah Öcalan. Our comrade Arin took her place with wisdom and devotion in the liberation movements in Hasakah, Raqqa, and Deir ez-Zor, gaining valuable revolutionary experience.
Arin was known among her comrades for her revolutionary ethics, pure emotions, and lofty dreams. As a young fighter — with her beautiful voice inspired by the ancient musical culture of her homeland, her profound mind, and her unwavering devotion — Serhad left a precious legacy for the youth of her country. With her passion and zest for life, she performed with excellence and earned deep respect. She always strove to be worthy of her father and brother, drawing her strength from her martyred brother, comrade Rezan Roken. The two siblings became courageous heroes of our revolution, armed with true knowledge and fighting for Kurdistan.

On April 3, 2024, as a result of the Turkish occupation’s attacks on the city of Kobani, our comrade Arin joined the caravan of martyrs within the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ). We remember our comrade Arin with pride, honor, and deep respect, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and to all our people. We renew our pledge of vengeance and our commitment to fulfilling the dreams of all the martyrs. We will continue to stand firm, confident in the trust of our people, and we will walk steadfastly on the path of Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the martyrs of freedom.
With Revolutionary Greetings
