Unite and Be One Voice in the Struggle for Your Rights

Amid the political and social challenges facing the regions of northern and eastern Syria, Amal Rojava emerges as one of the prominent figures in the women’s movement. As a leader in the military council, Amal represents strength and resilience, taking an active role in the struggle for women’s rights and protecting them from violence and oppression.

“A society cannot progress unless women have a voice.”

Amal embraces a comprehensive vision that enhances the role of women in all aspects of life, making her an influential voice in the community. She grew up in an environment full of challenges and has become a model of women’s leadership in Rojava. Her story reflects the experiences of many women facing difficulties, yet she has managed to turn these challenges into opportunities for growth and success.

Speaking about her unwavering will in the face of harsh circumstances, Amal said:
“I have endured harsh experiences, but they taught me strength and faith in my ability to create a new life from a life that seemed nonexistent. A woman can do this because, through her will, she has shaped all the universe’s needs for thousands of years, and to this day, she is capable of creating a beautiful, free life where she can achieve her rights and security.”

“Women’s Protection Units not only protect themselves but also challenge societal stereotypes about women.”

The Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) are an integral part of the military council, contributing to the protection of women from injustice and violence. Amal explains that these units are not merely armed forces but also educational platforms and social incubators aimed at empowering women and teaching them self-defense skills. She emphasized:
“The women who join the YPJ not only protect themselves, but they also change the stereotypical image of women in society.”

A vital role of the Women’s Protection Units is providing psychological and social support to women who have suffered oppression and marginalization, through workshops and counseling sessions. Amal and her team aim to help these women regain their strength and confidence. She also stressed that they seek to help everyone overcome painful experiences and restore their will, believing that achieving justice and equality for women requires action on multiple levels, through awareness and educational programs, and by increasing knowledge about women’s rights and the importance of their participation in decision-making.

At the end of the meeting, Amal addressed a special message to all women:
“Do not be afraid, and grant yourselves confidence and strength. We are all capable of bringing about change. Unite and be one voice in the struggle for your rights. Each one of you has the power to change her reality, and we will not stop until we achieve the justice and equality we deserve.”

Through these words, Amal Rojava reflects the aspirations and dreams of women and emphasizes that their role in society is fundamental to building a better future.
