Brutal attacks against civilians continue in the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh by the Syrian Transitional Government, resulting in the martyrdom and injury of many civilians. In this context, hundreds of residents of Hasakah city took part in a march in support of the resistance of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh, affirming that they are ready to take up arms alongside their fighters if necessary.
“We will unite to build a pluralistic, democratic, decentralized Syria”
Today, the Hasakah City Council organized a mass march in support of the resistance of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods, with the participation of the city’s residents, community leaders, Arab and Kurdish tribes, as well as civil and military institutions in the city. The march set off from Mufti Street and proceeded to Martyr Serhad Roundabout. Participants carried banners reading “We Are All Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh” and chanted slogans such as “Long live the resistance of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh” and “Long live the resistance of the SDF.”
Upon reaching Martyr Serhad Roundabout, participants observed a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs, followed by speeches expressing the peoples’ resistance and their deep commitment to the thought of leader Abdullah Öcalan. The speeches stated: “These peoples have armed themselves with the philosophy of the Democratic Nation and will continue their resistance for the unity of peoples. No matter how the mercenaries and the fascist Turkish state plan to undermine the Democratic Nation project, they will fail, because we will unite to build a pluralistic, democratic, decentralized Syria.”
The speakers continued: “We strongly condemn and denounce these violations targeting civilians. The Damascus government must realize that such violations will bring no benefit to Syria. The March 10 Agreement, which they are attempting to undermine through these brutal practices, aims to achieve peace, coexistence, and an end to wars. Therefore, we will not abandon our struggle until peace is achieved on our land.”
The march concluded with chants of “Long live the resistance of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh” and “Long live the resistance of the Asayish.”
