To Our People and to Public Opinion

To ensure the freedom of our people, we must honor the figures who hold a place in the memory and belief of a free society. Therefore, the children of our homeland lead the path toward freedom. Although the capitalist system strives to render the lives of societies meaningless, every act against communities becomes futile thanks to the leadership of women. Contrary to what is spread about the “Zemrawî killer,” heroic women such as Deniz, Sîdar, Leyla, and Krela also carry the historical culture of resistance of the Land of the Sun, which today stands as a great hope and faith for our people. In these times when we face vile plots, we will determine the fate of our people with unbreakable determination.
Our comrade Slava Şêxmûs, known by the nom de guerre Hêvî Amûdê, grew up in a patriotic family in the city of Amûdê. She and her brother joined the ranks of the revolution with a direct and active spirit. Hêvî was known for her great sacrifices in her revolutionary life, and for her steadfastness and determination within the ranks of the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ). Until the very end, she worked to implement the model of women’s freedom through her participation. Our comrade Hêvî was a symbol of courage, sacrifice, and faith. She lived to fulfill her revolutionary duties in every war and circumstance. By choosing the path of freedom, Comrade Hêvî laid the foundations of struggle against all forms of occupation and policies of oppression. She participated in the women’s freedom struggle with great determination and hope at all times. Within the ranks of the YPJ, she fought against destructive patriarchal intelligence practices through her honorable and principled struggle. In all her work and efforts, she took her place without discrimination or division, and as a revolutionary woman, she assumed the responsibilities of her era and carried out her duties with a pioneering and successful spirit.
With deep sorrow and grief, we mourn the passing of our comrade Hêvî Amûdê on 3 February 2026, following a heart attack. The Women’s Liberation Revolution has given birth to figures like Hêvî, who dedicated her life to serving her people.
The name and memory of our comrade Hêvî will remain forever in the hearts and minds of our people. Hêvî was a fighter with all her strength and determination, and a source of pride in the march of women’s liberation. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the respected family of our comrade Hêvî and to all our patriotic people. The path chosen by our martyrs is the path of freedom, resistance, and dignity. Therefore, we will follow in their footsteps until the end and fulfill their dreams.
