Farewell to Heroism: The City of Kobani Bids Farewell to Martyr Salih Muslim in a Solemn Political Ceremony Filled with Pride

The people of the city of Kobani, known for its resistance and bravery, laid the body of martyr Salih Muslim to rest in an official funeral ceremony. The event reflected the city’s strong collective spirit, which continues to refuse surrender in the face of challenges. Amid an atmosphere of grief and pride, the funeral was attended by the Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces, General Mazloum Abdi, along with a delegation of political figures, underscoring the significant role that Salih Muslim played in the struggle for freedom and dignity.

Before the memorial speeches began, attendees observed a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs, as a sign of respect and appreciation for their sacrifices. Soon afterward, passionate chants echoed through the gathering, expressing the determination and steadfast will of the people of Kobani to resist injustice. The atmosphere was charged with emotion, and there was a strong sense among those present of renewing their commitment to the path of resistance.

Aisha Afandi, the martyr’s wife, delivered a deeply moving speech in which she shed light on Salih Muslim’s exceptional character. She affirmed that she would continue to follow his path, carrying the responsibility of continuing the struggle for the causes he had dedicated his life to. She said:

“Salih Muslim was not merely a husband; he was a model of steadfastness and determination. He believed that every moment of his life carried profound meaning, and that politics and aspiration must be an inseparable part of one’s struggle.”

For her part, Layla Zaghe delivered a speech reflecting on the importance of politics and its impact on reality. She noted that Salih Muslim viewed politics as a means of achieving aspirations and would often say that he would never allow a single minute of his life to pass in vain without accomplishing something for himself and his people. Zaghe emphasized that Salih’s determination and political journey would remain a source of inspiration for those working in this field, calling on the younger generation to uphold the values and principles for which he struggled.

In the closing of her speech, Layla Zaghe addressed the people of Kobani with an impassioned message, affirming that resistance is an integral part of the identity of this people and that they must continue carrying the torch of struggle without breaking in the face of any challenge. She also praised the sacrifices of martyr Salih Muslim, saying:

“His spirit will remain alive in our hearts, and we must all remain faithful to his determination and vision.”

As the funeral ceremony concluded, attendees left the site with hearts filled with pride and honor, pledging to continue the path of struggle in pursuit of freedom and justice. It was a deeply moving farewell that reflected the profound human bonds and the strong will that characterize the people of Kobani in the face of adversity.
