During the interview, Yildiz stated:
“We are here to celebrate the birthday of Abdullah Öcalan, who has long been a symbol of freedom, particularly in matters concerning women. His philosophy and thought, grounded in justice and equality, have provided us with a guiding light through the darkness of oppression and marginalization that women have endured for decades.”
She further affirmed that the Women’s Protection Units will remain committed to Öcalan’s principles by working toward securing women’s freedom and rights within society. She noted that Öcalan represents a source of inspiration and motivation to continue the struggle against corruption and authoritarian systems.
Yildiz also extended special tribute to the mothers of martyrs, stating:
“Every mother who has lost her child in the cause of freedom is honored and deeply respected in our eyes. We take pride in their legacy and draw strength from it to continue our path.”
In conclusion, Yildiz stressed that the Women’s Protection Units will remain steadfast and persistent in defending the rights of women and the Kurdish people, while upholding the values advocated by Öcalan, who struggled to build a democratic society inclusive of all segments.
