Commemorating the Martyrs of May in Raqqa

The people of Raqqa commemorated the martyrs of May by visiting the Martyrs’ Cemetery and lighting candles.

On the occasion of Martyrs’ Day in May, the people of Raqqa visited the Martyrs’ Cemetery located in the village of Hukumiya, affiliated with the city of Raqqa. After observing a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs, the visitors toured the cemetery. During the visit, they lit candles on the graves of the martyrs.

The Kurdistan Freedom Movement declared this day as Martyrs’ Day during its first conference held on November 26–27, 1978, in memory of the martyrdom of comrade Haki Karer.
