The people of the city of Kobani laid to rest five martyrs who sacrificed their lives in defense of their homeland and values. The ceremony took place at a sensitive time, as tensions continue to rise in the region. Hundreds of citizens gathered at the Martyr Dijla Cemetery to express their respect and appreciation for the sacrifices made by these heroes.
The ceremony began with a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs, during which flags were raised and the atmosphere was filled with tears and sorrow. It was a deeply moving moment that reflected the unity of the people and their profound connection to their martyrs, who will remain symbols of dignity and freedom.
Following the moment of silence, Sterk Kobani, a commander in the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), delivered a speech expressing deep sorrow over the loss of these heroes and reaffirming commitment to continuing the struggle and resistance. She said: “Our martyrs paid the highest price, and thanks to their sacrifices, we stand here today to express our loyalty to them and to the principles for which they gave their lives. We are determined to follow in their footsteps and will not allow their sacrifices to be in vain.”
Sterk Kobani emphasized that the struggle does not end with military resistance alone, but also includes social and cultural development. She stressed the importance of collective effort to achieve the martyrs’ aspirations for freedom and dignity, adding: “We must continue to unite our ranks and strengthen the collective spirit of society. Every individual is needed to build a better future.”
In conclusion, she called on everyone to join the path of resistance, stressing that every step taken in this direction is a tribute to the memory of the martyrs. This message ignited a sense of determination among the attendees, who left the ceremony carrying the responsibility of preserving the legacy of the martyrs.
The funeral was more than just a farewell; it became an expression of a collective commitment to continue the struggle for justice and freedom. Kobani, with its people and martyrs, remains a symbol of resilience and determination, and the path of resistance will live on in the hearts and memories of all who aspire to a better future.
