Our comrade Nudem was loyal to her people.

The stances of women, who have become a source of inspiration for the entire world, illuminate the future of nations. The fighter in the Women’s Protection Units (Nudem Wan) waged an unwavering struggle for the freedom of the homeland, sacrificing her strength against the modernity system in the pursuit of the independence of the peoples.

Our people in Northern Kurdistan have never surrendered to all forms of denial and eradication policies, consistently walking the path of resistance. The ideas of the leader Apo had a clear impact on the reality of the Kurdish people, and the reality of this resistance created heroic women like comrade Nudem. Our comrade Nudem opened her eyes to life in the city of Van in Northern Kurdistan in 1991 within a patriotic family. The family of comrade Nudem is one of the esteemed families that engaged in a great struggle and sacrificed much for the freedom of Kurdistan, preserving its national dignity at all times.

Comrade Nudem joined the Kurdistan Freedom Movement in 2011. With the onset of the revolution in Rojava, she joined the ranks of the revolution. Because Comrade Nudem swore allegiance to the freedom of her people, the borders imposed by the occupation lost their meaning for her. She pledged to protect her community wherever it may be. Comrade Nudem has carried out her revolutionary duties since the beginning of the war against the mercenaries and terrorist factions, and even during the attacks of the occupying Turkish state, to protect the homeland tirelessly.

In 2012, she fought against groups like Jabhat al-Nusra in Serekaniye and took their place on the front lines of the war. Despite been injured in clashes with these terrorist factions, she never left the front lines. In 2014, during the terrorist attacks by ISIS – as a manifestation of the brutality of the capitalist modernity system – on Kobani, Comrade Nudem participated in the battlefronts to protect her people from the cruelty of this century and became part of the historical resistance of Kobani. She also fought against the ISIS terrorist organization in the campaign for Tel Hamis. In 2018, in Afrin, she engaged in the war for freedom against the occupation of the Turkish state.

In addition to her war efforts, Comrade Nudem made significant efforts in organizing the Kobani film to showcase to the world the moments she lived in historical resistance. She never ceased to fulfill her duties and responsibilities entrusted to her by the revolution at all levels.

Comrade Nudem was a dedicated fighter who carried the spirit of the revolution in her heart at every moment of her life. The unity of thought, speech, and action crystallized in the personality of Comrade Nudem. She developed herself on the frontline of women’s freedom and was well-known among the people in Rojava for her warm heart and humble stance. She made womanhood the center of life, turning Comrade Nudem into a multi-faceted fighter for democratic modernity. She exerted relentless efforts in every city and place where she fought, building her character and rallying women and the people around her.

On this basis, she made significant contributions to the fields of protection, organizing the people, and showcasing the reality of the revolution. Comrade Nudem became an example of embodying the qualities of a true fighter in line with the principles of the leader APO within the ranks of the Women’s Protection Units.

Comrade Nudem had been undergoing treatment for an illness for some time, and on January 17, 2024, she joined the ranks of the martyrs while receiving treatment at the hospital. Firstly, we would like to express our condolences to the esteemed family of Comrade Nudem and to our national people. As comrades of Comrade Nudem, her departure saddens us deeply, but we pledge that her passion and bravery will lead us to further enhance and develop the journey of freedom.
