The politician, patriot, and defender of his people’s rights, Salih Muslim, has passed away and returned to his Lord. Today is a deeply sorrowful day for us. We extend our heartfelt condolences, first and foremost to the family of Mr. Salih Muslim, and to our entire people.
For us, the struggle and personality of Salih Muslim have become a true standard of patriotism. He devoted every moment of his life to serving his people with great self-sacrifice. Salih Muslim made significant contributions to the Rojava Revolution, leading his society through the ideas of leader “Apo” (Abdullah Öcalan) and leaving behind a noble legacy of struggle.
From the earliest years of the Kurdish freedom struggle until his passing, he maintained a sincere and self-sacrificing stance in pursuit of a free life. Together with his entire family, he participated in the struggle for freedom. Through his intellectual character and political approach, he gained a respected and distinguished position within his society. He possessed a high level of knowledge in the administration of society on both political and social levels, and he was known for his broad visions and analyses regarding regional politics.
Salih Muslim shaped his character through the thought and philosophy of “Apo.” In recent years in particular, despite his health condition, he did not stop working even for a moment for the freedom of his people, and he remained constantly present among the people. He fulfilled the responsibilities of a free human being in all fields and never once compromised on the freedom of his people.
Salih Muslim held important roles within the Rojava Revolution. As much as he was a politician, he was also a patriot and a father to the martyrs and fighters. With his entire being, he was the voice of his people’s truth.
The courage and steadfast stance of Salih Muslim will remain a standard for the struggle toward a free and dignified life and for achieving democracy and freedom for our people. Through his life stance, he also demonstrated deep respect for women’s freedom and was a true comrade to women.
Therefore, in the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), we consider it our fundamental duty to realize the dreams of the martyrs embodied in the personality of the struggler Salih Muslim. The life and efforts of Salih Muslim will forever keep him alive in our hearts and our memory.
